We ensure that all existing and prospective customers are treated fairly and consistently throughout the loan lifecycle, regardless of any characteristic or basis prohibited by law.
Federal Fair Lending Laws
Fair Housing Act (FH Act): Part of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, the FH Act prohibits discrimination in every aspect of residential real estate-related transactions, including:
- Making loans to buy, build, or repair a dwelling
- Purchasing real estate loans
- Selling, brokering, or appraising residential real estate
- Selling or renting a dwelling
The FH Act forbids discrimination based on:
- Race or color
- Religion
- National origin
- Sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)
- Handicap
- Familial status (including households with children under 18, pregnant women, or individuals
with legal custody of children under 18)
Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA): ECOA and Regulation B (its implementing regulation) prohibit discrimination in any aspect of a credit transaction based on:
- Race or color
- Religion
- National origin
- Sexual orientation or gender identity
- Marital status
- Age (provided the applicant is old enough and capable of entering into a contract)
- Receipt of income from public assistance programs
- Exercising a right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act or its state law counterpart
As a residential mortgage lender, RoundPoint Mortgage Servicing LLC is subject to both the FH Act and ECOA
State Law
State and local laws may include additional prohibited bases for discrimination, such as military and veteran status or sexual orientation and gender identity.
ECOA Notice
The Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act prohibits creditors from discriminating against credit applicants based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), marital status, age (if the applicant has the capacity to enter into a contract), receipt of public assistance income, or good faith exercise of rights under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
